ABOUT THE FOUNDER

derek shields, visionary

Derek Shields moved to Los Angeles in 1987 from his home in New York City to fulfill a life of design, art and groundbreaking skwibbles. Soon after arriving in LA, he began a career at The Walt Disney Company where he created the poster art (they call it key art in the biz) used to promote feature films. While at the Walt Disney Company Derek launched numerous movie campaigns both domestically and internationally.

In 2000, Derek partnered with Craig Murray Productions, to create Poster Child a full service print division, of the company that creates the trailers for feature films . Within six years Poster Child was working on posters and "key art" for clients such as Disney, Universal, MGM, Sony, Warner Bros., 2929 Films, ABC and HBO.

In 2006 Derek co-founded The Arterie, a creative agency specializing in entertainment advertising as well as corporate branding. His goal with The Arterie was to blend art, photography, clothing and advertising together to create memorable visuals.

Shields' creative advertising background has earned him many accolades including Key Art Awards and Mobius Awards for excellence in advertising - specifically in regards to motion picture and animated advertising campaigns for several film studios. Some of the notable campaigns that Derek has been linked to are Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Mulan, Mr. Hollands Opus, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, A Bugs Life, Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, Cars, 102 Dalmatians, Pirates of the Caribbean, Beauty and the Beast, Pearl Harbor, Friday Night Lights, Chicken Little, Curious George, The Pink Panther, SWAT, Barber Shop 2, Crash, Cinderella Man, Ant Bully, The Footballer's Wives, Ratatouille, Rendition, Alvin and the Chipmunks and many more.
